BlueVoyant is seeking an experienced Data Engineer/Database Admin to create and manage the data architecture and optimal storage/retrieval technology needed to power the identification and risk analysis of global supply chains and their cyber defensive posture. The ability to rapidly ingest, integrate, and analyze new data sources is fundamental to delivering the timely, accurate and actionable information our clients need to discover, protect, and adapt to risk – particularly cybersecurity risk.

- Database Design and Development: Design, create, and maintain database schema, tables, indexes, stored procedures, and other database objects.
- Performance Optimization: Proactively identify and resolve database performance issues through query optimization, indexing strategies, and system tuning. Identify and apply methods to decrease operational cost.
- Data Integrity and Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure data integrity.
- Data Pipelines: Assist in the design, build, and maintenance of robust data pipelines (leveraging ETL/ELT processes) to integrate data from various sources.
- Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure seamless integration with applications.
- Database Operations: Manage database administration tasks, including backups, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor database systems for performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and system health. Generate and analyze performance reports.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database design, configurations, and processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with new database technologies and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Database Engineer, Database Developer, or a similar role.
- Expertise in SQL and deep knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as key-value stores (i.e. Redis), document stores (i.e, MongoDB), graph (i.e, Neo4j), or other (i.e.Cassandra, ElasticSearch) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python for automation and tool development is highly desired. Experience with other programming languages such as golang and other AI-assisted software development technology is desired.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL) as well as Postgres implementations on cloud hosts.
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with Agile development practices, Git version control, and CI/CD ops is required.
- Experience with database schema design/modeling (i.e., Lucidchart), schema migration/versioning (i.e, sqitch), and IDEs (i.e., DataGrip) is a plus.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code frameworks (i.e, terraform) and container-based deployment technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
