The Position
The Platform Engineer 1 will work across a wide variety of cloud platform solutions and technologies, including Microsoft. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting solutions that enable security configuration, administration, management, and support. You will partner with clients to determine appropriate security solution configurations and setups to support monitoring within our platform and service delivery operations. A strong understanding of core IT security tools and network fundamentals is essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a client-facing, customer-service-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise-class security tools, including Anti-Virus software, Next-Gen AV, EDR, and Microsoft Defender suites.
Implement and support Microsoft Defender security solutions and other BV security applications, such as: Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Defender for Identity & Azure AD Identity Protection, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, Microsoft Azure Sentinel, Microsoft Entra ID, Splunk Cloud Platform, CrowdStrike Falcon, CarbonBlack Defense, SentinelOne
Apply knowledge of core network protocols (DNS, DHCP, ARP, TCP, UDP, SSL, SSH, SCP, FTP, IPSec) when configuring and troubleshooting security tools.
Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure proper security tool setup and integration within IT network/cloud environments.
Provide tuning recommendations for security tools to optimize performance and effectiveness.
Assist clients in resolving service issues and advise on best practices related to supported security tools.
Maintain an ownership mindset and partner with functional counterparts to deliver on key business objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with a globally distributed team.
Experience with Mac OS, Windows, and Unix systems.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations professionally and productively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical topics clearly.
Familiarity with identity and access management, SIEM, malware detection, HIDS/NIDS, network monitoring tools, case management systems, knowledge bases, web security gateways, email security, and data loss prevention.
Preferred Qualifications:
1–4 years of hands-on experience in security tool administration or systems administration.
Certifications such as Security+, CEH, Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator.
Experience with Microsoft Cloud IT infrastructure tools.
Understanding of programming/scripting languages and ability to run basic database queries.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or another IT-related field preferred. Exceptional candidates with proven experience in security tools and systems administration will also be considered.
